I'm going to try it on a stripped hole in my carb on my 350 husky. Depends on how bad the stripped hole is. If it's not too bad, you can chase the threads via a tap, and then see if you can torque the bolt down snug. Some thread locker or RTV will hep, of course.

Pulled head to find bolt with threads rusted mostly off and bolt hole the same. The D-239 block has holes drilled large at the block surface with the threads starting about 1/2 inch down.

Pushing it into the wood will give u an idea pretty quick if the stringer is gone or mush.. Unfortunately the two boats I had with this problem stringers were toast.. andysperformance is offline.

Jan 30, 2006 · Well there were still a copule that were a bit stripped so on another visit down we decided to replace EVERY bolt hole with Time-Serts, after pulling out the Helicoils on 2 of the bolts towards the rear of the pan those holes were too big for the Time-Serts, so we tried to find larger bolts and sort of afro-enginered some bolts to fit.
